Chhanerā Map Poster & Print
Chhanerā lies in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, in the Nimar region. It is closely linked to the story of Harsud, an old town that was submerged by the rising waters of the Indira Sagar dam in the early 2000s. Many of Harsud's residents were resettled here, and the town became widely known as New Harsud.
The relocation of Harsud in 2004 drew wide attention in India as one of the most visible cases of displacement caused by a large dam. The new town was laid out quickly, and its map shows it: broad straight roads, regular plots and clearly defined sectors, in contrast to the organic lanes that Harsud had built up over centuries.
A Chhanerā map poster shows a town still growing into its plan. The gridded sectors appear as crisp, orderly shapes, main roads connect the town across the Nimar countryside, and fields fill the space around it. For families who moved here, it is a map of a new home built in the place of a lost one.

Reservoir region
The Indira Sagar reservoir, one of the largest in India, lies to the north, and its creation reshaped the district's settlements, roads and farmland.
Surrounding farmland
Fields and rural roads spread around the town across the Nimar plains, framing the planned sectors with a looser, open pattern.

Pourquoi Chhanerā
Une carte qui a du sens
For families who came from Harsud, a map of Chhanerā holds two stories at once: the town they left and the one they built. A print of its streets is a respectful way to mark that journey and keep it in the home.
The title and subtitle can read Chhanerā, New Harsud or both, and the coordinates line can carry a date of your choosing. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the HD files for $9 or order a print.
