La carte
Dongen Map Poster & Print
Dongen lies in North Brabant, north-west of Tilburg, in the flat, sandy country typical of this part of the Netherlands. The town has a small historic centre around its church and main street, from which older roads lead out toward neighbouring villages. Around it, twentieth-century neighbourhoods fill in the spaces in neat, planned blocks, and the edges of town meet farmland and patches of woodland.
The Wilhelmina Canal passes along the town, a long straight waterway that gives the map a firm boundary line. Dongen was long associated with leather tanning and shoemaking, industries that shaped its growth in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The small river Donge, which gave the town its name, begins nearby and winds north across the landscape.
A Dongen map poster shows that Dutch mix of old and planned: a slightly irregular core, straight canal lines and carefully laid-out housing. It is a clear, legible map, easy to navigate and pleasant to look at. The Classic and Paper styles bring out the fine detail of the residential streets.

Historic main street
The old centre follows a main street around the church, where the street pattern is less regular than in the later neighbourhoods around it.
Planned districts
Twentieth-century housing areas surround the centre in ordered blocks, with rows of streets and green spaces that give the map a steady rhythm.

Pourquoi Dongen
Une carte qui a du sens
Dongen is a hometown for many people now living across the Randstad and beyond. A map of it, with the canal and the old centre, is a quietly personal thing to hang, and it also makes a thoughtful gift.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are editable, and there are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Digital HD files cost $9 and include a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF for each size.
