Loose street grid
The streets mostly run straight and cross at right angles, but the grid bends and breaks at its edges, giving the town a relaxed, unforced outline on the page.

La carte
Fortuna Map Poster & Print
Fortuna lies in the interior of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil, far from the state's Atlantic coast. The town is small and its plan is easy to read from above: a set of mostly straight streets forming a loose grid, a few wider roads connecting it to the region, and open land beginning almost immediately at the edges of the last blocks.
The surrounding landscape belongs to the broad transition zone between the humid north of Maranhão and the drier country further south and east, with farmland, pasture and patches of native vegetation. Dirt roads and tracks strike out from the town towards farms and smaller settlements, and they carry on well past the frame of any map.
A Fortuna map poster is less about landmarks than about scale. It shows a compact community at the centre of a wide territory, the kind of place where most of the town can be walked in an afternoon. The name itself, which means fortune or luck in Portuguese, makes a fitting title for a gift.

Rural roads
Wide unpaved roads and tracks radiate into the countryside, drawing thin lines across the open paper that connect the town to farms beyond the frame.
A telling name
Fortuna means fortune in Portuguese, so the title line already carries meaning, whether the poster marks a birthplace, a move or a new beginning.

Pourquoi Fortuna
Une carte qui a du sens
Many people from small towns in the Brazilian interior now live in larger cities or abroad. A map of Fortuna brings the streets of childhood into a new home and gives them the same presence on the wall as any big-city print.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, so you can add a family name or a date that matters. Choose a style, such as Paper or Sand for a warmer tone, and order the HD files for $9 or a matte print, framed or unframed.
