Terrain-led streets
Instead of a grid, the town's streets curve with the land. This gives the centre a natural, irregular outline that reflects the slopes it sits on.

Funyan Bīra Map Poster & Print
Funyan Bīra lies in the eastern highlands of Oromia, in the hill country east of the historic city of Harar. The map shows a modest settlement shaped by the land. Streets and paths bend around slopes, and the built-up area follows the flatter ground. Outside it, a lacework of footpaths and minor tracks links farms and hamlets scattered across the hills.
Uplands in this part of Ethiopia are cut by seasonal streams, which leave dry channels that fill during the rains. On a map they appear as fine branching lines weaving between the tracks. Farmed plots on the slopes add more texture, so even the quiet parts of the frame are surprisingly detailed.
A Funyan Bīra map poster is for those who know this place personally, whether they live nearby or carry it with them from elsewhere. In black and white, the pattern of paths and streambeds becomes something close to a drawing. It stays true to the ground and claims no more than the map shows.

Seasonal streams
Dry streambeds branch across the surrounding hills. They carry water only in the rainy months, but on the map their fine lines define the shape of the land.
Footpath network
Beyond the town, a dense mesh of footpaths connects fields and homesteads. These routes people walk every day give the outer frame its fine texture.
