Godalming Map Poster & Print
Godalming lies in the valley of the River Wey in south-west Surrey. On the map the river and its water meadows run along the town's northern side, while the historic centre forms a small knot of narrow streets on slightly higher ground. Residential roads climb the surrounding slopes in curving lines, and wooded hills close in around the edges.
The town has a long history as a market and wool town, and its High Street keeps many timber-framed and older brick buildings. At its centre stands the Pepperpot, the former town hall of 1814. In 1881 Godalming became one of the first places in the world with a public electricity supply for street lighting. Charterhouse School occupies a large site on the hill to the north.
A Godalming map poster captures the contrast between the tight medieval core, the open valley floor and the looser streets on the hills. It is a map for people who studied, grew up or settled here, and it works well in a clean, traditional interior.

Narrow historic streets converge around the High Street and the Pepperpot, forming the densest, most irregular part of the map.
Charterhouse on the hill
North of the river, the large grounds of Charterhouse School spread across the hillside, a distinct open area among curving residential roads.
