Harbu Map Poster & Print
Harbu is a town in the Amhara region of northern Ethiopia, on the eastern side of the country's highlands. The terrain here is rarely flat, and the map shows it. Streets bend to follow the slopes, and the built-up area gathers along the roads that pass through instead of filling a neat grid. The town's outline is irregular, shaped by the ground as much as by planning.
Its map follows a pattern common to towns in the area. A denser centre forms where the main roads meet, residential lanes spread outward, and tracks lead into cultivated fields and hillsides. Like many market towns in the region, Harbu serves the farming communities around it, and the loose edges of the settlement show how closely town and countryside are tied together.
A Harbu map poster is a personal object more than a travel souvenir. It is made for people from the town and its surroundings, for the diaspora, and for anyone who has worked or lived here. The print keeps the town at a scale where every lane is visible and the shape of the land around it can still be felt.

Terrain-led streets
Away from the main roads, streets curve and change direction to follow the slopes. The plan looks organic and very different from a planned grid.
Farmland margins
Toward the edges, the built-up area loosens into scattered compounds and field tracks. Town gradually gives way to cultivated highland countryside.

Pourquoi Harbu
Une carte qui a du sens
For many Ethiopians abroad, a map of their home town is one of the few objects that shows the place as it is. Hung in a living room, it shows family and visitors where a story begins.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a date that matters. Choose one of five styles and download 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files, or order a printed poster on matte paper.
