Homburg Map Poster & Print
Homburg is a town in the east of Saarland, not far from the border with Rhineland-Palatinate. Its centre gathers around the Schlossberg, a hill that once carried a fortress, and from above the old streets curve around the base of the slope. Beyond them, newer districts, rail lines and main roads spread out across the surrounding valleys.
The town is well known in Germany for the medical faculty and university hospital of Saarland University, whose large campus forms a distinct area of its own on the map. Under the Schlossberg lie extensive sandstone caves, dug over several centuries, which are among the largest of their kind in Europe. Homburg is also home to the Karlsberg brewery.
A Homburg map poster brings together the tight core by the castle hill, the broad hospital grounds and the woodland on the edges of town. It shows a place of moderate size with a clear shape, framed by forested hills and crossed by the rail and road links that connect Saarland with the Palatinate.

University hospital campus
The medical campus of Saarland University covers a large area on the edge of town, with its own roads and buildings forming a separate block on the map.
Forest edges
Wooded hills surround much of Homburg, so the built-up area ends in soft, irregular edges where the streets meet the trees.
