Idaho Falls Map Poster & Print
Idaho Falls lies in eastern Idaho, on the Snake River as it crosses the wide, flat Upper Snake River Plain. The river runs north to south through the city, and the falls that gave the town its name are a long, low cascade over a diversion weir, set within a riverside greenbelt with paths on both banks.
The town began as Eagle Rock, a crossing point where a toll bridge spanned the Snake, and was renamed in 1891. Its downtown is a compact grid on the east bank, and newer neighbourhoods spread outward in regular blocks and later in curving subdivisions. Canals drawn from the river cut diagonally through parts of the city and the surrounding farmland.
Beside the river stands the Idaho Falls temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of the city's best-known buildings, and the Idaho National Laboratory, a major employer, lies out on the desert plain to the west. An Idaho Falls map poster puts the river, the greenbelt and the grid into one clear frame.

A compact historic grid beside the river holds the older commercial streets, with regular residential blocks extending out from it in every direction.
Irrigation canals
Canals led off the Snake cut across the city and the fields beyond, adding thin diagonal lines that break up the otherwise regular street pattern.

Pourquoi Idaho Falls
Une carte qui a du sens
Idaho Falls draws people for work at the national laboratory, for family, and as a base for Yellowstone and the Tetons. A map of the city is a fitting print for anyone who has lived by the river, walked the greenbelt or put down roots on the plain.
