La carte
Ilām Map Poster & Print
Ilām is the headquarters of Ilam district in Koshi Province, in the hills of far-eastern Nepal near the border with India. The town sits on a ridge, and its map reflects that position. Streets follow the crest and branch down the slopes, and roads wind back and forth to cope with the steep terrain.
The surrounding hills are known for tea. Ilām is the best-known tea-growing area in Nepal, and the plantations shape the landscape into terraces and contour lines, which make the hillsides look combed from above. Streams run through deep valleys between the ridges, and villages are scattered along spurs and saddles.
The town serves as the market and administrative centre for a wide hill region. An Ilām map poster shows a place drawn by the land itself: a compact core on the ridge, hairpin roads and tea gardens following the shape of the hills.

Pourquoi Ilām
Une carte qui a du sens
Ilām means tea, hills and cool mornings to many people in Nepal and in the Nepali diaspora. A map of the town keeps that setting close, as a reminder of home or of a trip that stayed in memory.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, and you can choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and a free 900 px watermarked preview shows the design before you buy.
