Locomotive workshop
The workshop grounds and their spread of sidings form the largest single structure on the map, a dense block of parallel tracks at the heart of the town.

Jamālpur Map Poster & Print
Jamālpur lies in Munger district in eastern Bihar, a short distance south of the Ganges. On a map the town is shaped by the railway more than by any river. Tracks, sidings and long workshop sheds take up a large share of the frame, and the residential streets gather around them. To the south the land lifts into a line of low, forested hills that close off the town on that side.
The Jamalpur Locomotive Workshop, opened in 1862, is one of the oldest railway workshops in India, and the town grew around it. For generations it built and repaired locomotives, and Jamālpur is also home to the Indian Railways institute that trains mechanical and electrical engineers. The ordered railway colony, with its regular blocks and broad roads, still contrasts with the older bazaar streets beyond it.
A Jamālpur map poster turns that industrial footprint into something calm and graphic. The rails appear as bundled parallel lines, the hills as open space to the south, and the town sits between them like a planned settlement that has slowly softened at its edges. For anyone connected to Indian Railways, it is an unusually personal map.

Railway colony
The regular streets and generous plots of the railway colony stand out against the tighter, more irregular lanes of the older market areas nearby.
Southern hills
Low forested hills rise directly south of the town and leave a blank, undeveloped band that frames the streets and gives the poster a clear edge.

Pourquoi Jamālpur
Une carte qui a du sens
Jamālpur means a great deal to railway families, former students of the institute and people who grew up in the colony quarters. A map of the town keeps that shared world on the wall, recognisable to anyone who spent time among its tracks and sheds.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a year of joining or graduation, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the engineering story well. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
