The river valley
The Kara-Kulja River runs through the valley floor, and the town's main streets follow its direction, giving the poster a clear, flowing axis.

Kara-Kulja Map Poster & Print
Kara-Kulja is the centre of a mountainous district in Osh Region, in southern Kyrgyzstan, east of the city of Osh. It lies in a valley along the Kara-Kulja River, and the map shows how the terrain shapes everything. Streets spread across the flat valley floor, run parallel to the river and stop where the slopes begin to rise.
The layout is loose. Houses stand in large plots with gardens and orchards, and lanes between them are separated by fields and irrigation channels that draw water from the river. Roads follow the valley upstream and downstream, linking the town with villages deeper in the mountains and with the lowlands toward Osh. Beyond the valley, bare ridges fill the frame.
A Kara-Kulja map poster shows a settlement defined by its valley: a band of streets, the line of the river and wide empty space where the mountains stand. It is a thoughtful gift for people from the district, for families who have moved to Osh, Bishkek or abroad, and for travellers who remember the road through these mountains.

Garden plots
Houses sit among generous gardens and orchards, so the street pattern is open and airy rather than dense, with plenty of space between lines.
Ridges all around
High slopes rise on both sides of the valley. On the poster they appear as open space that frames the narrow band of settlement.
