Curonian Spit
Across the strait, the northern end of the UNESCO-listed spit forms a narrow band of land on the poster. It separates the calm lagoon from the open Baltic.

Klaipėda Map Poster & Print
Klaipėda is Lithuania's only seaport, and water defines its map. The city lines the eastern shore of a narrow strait that connects the Curonian Lagoon with the Baltic Sea. Directly opposite lies the northern tip of the Curonian Spit, a long, thin strip of dunes and pine forest. Docks, quays and harbour basins stretch for kilometres along the waterfront.
The small Danė River flows through the heart of the city before it joins the strait. The Old Town sits on its southern bank, in a compact grid of streets laid out when the city was known as Memel. Theatre Square and the remains of the old castle and its bastions lie close to the point where river and harbour meet.
North of the centre, residential districts extend toward the seaside area of Giruliai, with the resort town of Palanga further up the coast. Ferries cross the strait to Smiltynė on the spit. A Klaipėda map poster shows a city pressed between lagoon and sea, where long quays and a sliver of land shape the whole composition.

Danė River
This short river winds through the centre, lined with quays and small bridges. It divides the Old Town from the newer districts to the north.
Old Town grid
South of the Danė, a tight grid of streets and half-timbered warehouses keeps the plan of old Memel beside the harbour.

Pourquoi Klaipėda
Une carte qui a du sens
For many people, Klaipėda is where they first set foot in Lithuania off a ferry. Others grew up by the harbour or spent summers on the spit. A map of the city holds that sense of standing at the edge, with the city on one side and the dunes on the other.
Your poster can carry your own title, a subtitle such as a date, and the city's coordinates, in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. You can download the files for $9 in six sizes, or have it printed on matte paper and framed if you like.
