Ring road system
Numbered ring roads curve outward from the centre in successive arcs. They are the strongest graphic element of the map and give it a clear, almost diagrammatic structure.

Kuwait City Map Poster & Print
Kuwait City sits on the southern shore of Kuwait Bay, at the northern end of the Persian Gulf. Its map is one of the most distinctive in the region. From the old centre on the waterfront, a series of numbered ring roads spreads outward in wide arcs, crossed by radial motorways, so the whole metropolitan area looks like a giant half-wheel pressed against the coast.
Within those rings the land is divided into large neighbourhood blocks, each with its own internal grid of streets, schools and small parks. Arabian Gulf Street follows the coastline past beaches, marinas and the Kuwait Towers. These three slender towers stand on a small point and have become the country's best-known landmark.
The modern plan dates from the mid twentieth century, when oil revenue turned a walled port town into a planned capital. Today the Jaber Causeway stretches far across Kuwait Bay to the north. A Kuwait City map poster shows that planning with unusual clarity: arcs, spokes and blocks, all set against the smooth line of the bay.

Arabian Gulf Street
The coastal road follows the bay shore. Its long, gentle curve traces the edge of the city and links the centre with the seafront districts.
Kuwait Towers point
A small promontory on the shore where the Kuwait Towers stand. This notch in the coastline marks the city's most recognisable skyline feature.

Pourquoi Kuwait City
Une carte qui a du sens
Kuwait City's layout is geometric enough to look designed for a poster. It suits Kuwaitis who want a piece of home in a modern interior, as well as the many residents who have spent years of their working lives inside those rings.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a neighbourhood or a date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Blueprint brings out the engineered feel, while Noir and Sand suit warmer rooms. Buy the $9 HD files or a printed poster.
