La carte
Lenger Map Poster & Print
Lenger is in Turkistan Region in southern Kazakhstan, southeast of Shymkent, at the foot of the Western Tian Shan. It grew as a coal mining town in the Soviet period. Today it is a residential and agricultural centre, and the mountains to the south, which include the Ugam range, are its most notable natural setting.
On a map, Lenger is fairly regular. Straight streets form long blocks, typical of towns planned in the Soviet era, and main roads lead north toward Shymkent. On the southern side the land rises, streams come down from the mountains, and the pattern loosens into farmland and valleys. The transition from plain to foothill shows clearly on the page.
A Lenger map poster is for people from the town and region, families who have moved to Shymkent, Almaty or abroad, and anyone who knows the foothills of southern Kazakhstan. It captures an ordered town on the edge of the mountains with a clear geographic direction from plain to peaks.

Pourquoi Lenger
Une carte qui a du sens
A town at the foot of the mountains leaves a strong impression on the people who grew up there. A map of Lenger keeps its streets and southern horizon in view, for a home in Kazakhstan or much further away.
