The coastline runs along the edge of the map in a long, gentle line. It gives the whole poster a strong horizontal direction.

La carte
Liang Map Poster & Print
Liang is in Belait, Brunei's westernmost district and the centre of the country's oil and gas industry. The settlement follows the coast of the South China Sea, where a long, fairly straight beach forms the edge of the map. The coastal highway runs parallel to the shore, linking Liang with the other towns along this strip of the district.
Inland, the land becomes low and wet, with rivers and swamp forest reaching toward the coast. Settlement stays close to the highway and shoreline, so the built-up area forms a long, narrow band. Industrial sites connected with the energy sector sit in large, clearly defined areas near the coast.
A Liang map poster shows this coastal band clearly. The sea runs along one side, forest and rivers along the other, and the road and houses form a narrow line between them. In black and white the composition is spare, well suited to anyone who knows this stretch of the Belait coast.

Coastal highway
The main road runs parallel to the shore and holds the settlement together. Most streets branch off it for only a short distance.
Inland wetlands
Rivers and low, forested ground lie behind the coast. On the map they create open areas crossed by winding water channels.

Pourquoi Liang
Une carte qui a du sens
Belait has been home to many oil and gas workers, some for a few years and some for most of their lives. A map of Liang is a clear record of that time. It also works as a simple, elegant print of a coastline many people know only as a name.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a family name, the years you lived there or a message. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand echoes the beach.
