Mixia Map Poster & Print
Mixia is a settlement in Xinjiang, in far western China, on the western side of the Tarim Basin. This is oasis country, where towns depend on water carried from the mountains to irrigate fields in an otherwise arid landscape. From above, the settled area appears as a green island edged by dry land.
The map of such a place is shaped by water management. Irrigation canals run in long lines, fields form a patchwork of rectangles, and rows of trees and roads follow the channels. The town itself sits within this agricultural pattern rather than apart from it, a small cluster of streets among cultivated land.
A Mixia map poster shows the precise, almost architectural order that irrigation imposes on a landscape. Straight canals and field boundaries contrast with the wide empty areas beyond the oasis. In black and white, the result is an unusual and graphic image, closer to a technical drawing than a typical town plan.

Field patchwork
Rectangular plots of cultivated land surround the settlement, creating a dense geometric texture across much of the poster.
Desert edge
Where irrigation ends, the pattern stops and open arid land begins, giving the composition a clear boundary between cultivated and empty ground.
