La carte
Nadym Map Poster & Print
Nadym lies in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of western Siberia, just south of the Arctic Circle, on the Nadym River. The surrounding landscape is flat and wet, a mix of tundra, sparse forest, bogs and countless small lakes. On the map the town appears as a compact block of apartment buildings, set apart in a vast, almost empty terrain.
The modern town was built in the early 1970s to support the development of the Medvezhye gas field, one of the first large Siberian gas deposits. The ground stays frozen for most of the year, so many buildings stand on piles. Roads, pipelines and utility corridors are laid out to cope with permafrost and long, harsh winters.
A Nadym map poster shows a clear planned layout: straight streets, large apartment blocks and industrial zones on the edges, with the curving river and scattered lakes beyond. In black and white, the tight rectangle of the town against the open, water-speckled landscape conveys the scale of the far north in a quiet, graphic way.

Nadym River
The river runs past the town, and its meandering channel and floodplain form the strongest natural lines on the map.
Lakes and tundra
Countless small lakes and wetlands surround the town. They scatter irregular shapes across the landscape and show how isolated the settlement is.

Pourquoi Nadym
Une carte qui a du sens
Many people spent years working in Nadym on rotation, or grew up in its apartment blocks before moving south. A map with a personalised title, a subtitle such as the years spent there and the coordinates line is a way to remember a place few others know.
The poster comes in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The digital HD files cost $9 and include six sizes as 300 DPI PNGs and print-ready PDFs. You can also order a printed matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
