La carte
New Providence Map Poster & Print
New Providence is not the largest island of the Bahamas, but it is by far the most populous, home to the capital, Nassau. Its outline is a low, roughly rectangular shape, and from above the eastern half is almost entirely built up, thinning toward the west. Lakes such as Lake Killarney and Lake Cunningham sit inland, surrounded by roads and neighbourhoods.
Nassau's historic core lies along the northern shore, facing a harbour sheltered by Paradise Island, and two bridges cross the channel between them. Above downtown, Fort Fincastle and the Queen's Staircase, a flight of steps cut into the limestone, recall the colonial period, while Fort Charlotte stands to the west, overlooking the approach to the harbour.
A New Providence map poster shows a surprisingly dense island: a tight grid in the old town, winding suburban streets inland, the long runway of the international airport in the west and the thin strip of Paradise Island offshore. It is a map of a working capital as much as a holiday island, and it rewards close reading.

Inland lakes
Several shallow lakes lie in the island's interior, the largest being Lake Killarney near the airport. They appear as broad open shapes surrounded by the fine grain of streets.
Downtown grid
Nassau's historic centre is laid out in a compact grid along the shore, rising toward the ridge behind it. It is the densest and most orderly part of the map.

Pourquoi New Providence
Une carte qui a du sens
New Providence is home to most Bahamians, and many visitors have passed through it on cruises or holidays. A poster of the island works for both: a portrait of a hometown with its neighbourhoods and lakes, or a clean record of a trip to Nassau.
Personalise the title and subtitle, mark a neighbourhood or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame, or you can download print-ready files for $9.
