Nyanza Map Poster & Print
Nyanza lies in the Southern Province of Rwanda, in the country's characteristic landscape of rounded hills and green valleys. From above, the town does not follow a grid. Roads curve along the ridgelines and drop into the valleys between them, and settlement spreads along those routes, leaving the valley floors largely open and farmed.
The town holds a special place in Rwandan history as a royal capital of the Kingdom of Rwanda. The King's Palace Museum at Rukari includes a reconstruction of the traditional thatched royal residence alongside the colonial-era palace, and the long-horned Inyambo cattle associated with the monarchy are still kept there.
A Nyanza map poster does not try to picture the palace. It shows the land it stands on: winding roads, scattered neighbourhoods and the rhythm of hill and valley that defines this part of the country. In monochrome, the map takes on the soft, organic look of a contour drawing, which suits a place shaped as much by topography as by history.

Royal heritage
The King's Palace Museum at Rukari marks Nyanza's past as a royal capital and sits within the town's wider road network.
Valley floors
Between the hills, lower ground stays open and cultivated, adding quiet empty space and soft curves to the composition.

Pourquoi Nyanza
Une carte qui a du sens
Nyanza matters to many Rwandans as a place tied to the story of the kingdom, and to visitors who came to see the palace and the Inyambo cattle. A map of the town is a thoughtful keepsake of that history and landscape.
Add your own title and subtitle, and edit the coordinates line to suit. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper gives the hillside roads a warm, hand-drawn feel.
