La carte
Pula Map Poster & Print
Pula lies near the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula, around a deep, well-protected bay. From above, the old town is an oval of streets wrapped around a hill topped by a Venetian fortress, with lanes descending in rings toward the harbour. Beyond it, later districts spread across the headlands, and the coastline splits into coves and peninsulas.
The city's Roman past is unusually visible. The amphitheatre, known as the Arena, is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres anywhere, and the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of the Sergii still stand in the centre. Across the harbour, the long-established shipyard on its island fills a large part of the waterfront.
A Pula map poster shows all of this in outline: the circular old town, the elliptical arena near the shore, the harbour cutting deep inland and the jagged coast to the south. It is a striking composition, with land and sea sharing the frame almost equally.

The Arena
The Roman amphitheatre stands close to the harbour, its elliptical footprint one of the most recognisable shapes on any map of the Adriatic coast.
Harbour and shipyard
The deep bay reaches into the city, with the shipyard island and its docks forming a heavy, geometric block along the waterfront.

Pourquoi Pula
Une carte qui a du sens
Pula is a city people remember through its layers: Roman stone, Venetian walls and summer light on the harbour. A map poster distils those layers into lines and makes a lasting souvenir of Istria.
