Cenderawasih Bay shore
The coastline is the defining line of the map, a long edge where the small street network gives way to the open water of one of New Guinea's largest bays.

Ransiki Map Poster & Print
Ransiki lies on the eastern shore of the Bird's Head Peninsula in West Papua, facing the wide waters of Cenderawasih Bay. On a map, the town is a modest cluster of streets along the coast. The bay fills one side of the frame and rising, largely roadless terrain fills the other, so the poster is mostly contrast between built and unbuilt space.
The street network is sparse and practical. A coastal road links the settlement to the rest of the peninsula, and short lanes branch off it towards the shore and the higher ground. Streams run down from the hills to the sea, and in monochrome they show up as fine threads crossing the grid. It is a quiet, uncluttered composition.
A Ransiki map poster suits anyone who knows this stretch of Papuan coast, whether through work, family or a long journey east. Because so much of the frame is water and open land, the few streets carry real weight, and the coastline becomes the main line of the design.

Coastal road
A single main road follows the shore and ties the town to the wider peninsula, forming the spine that the shorter local streets hang from.
Rising hinterland
Inland the ground climbs towards the mountains of the Bird's Head, leaving broad empty areas on the poster that make the settlement itself stand out.

Pourquoi Ransiki
Une carte qui a du sens
People hang a map of Ransiki to keep a remote, meaningful place close. It might be a hometown, a posting or a stop on a long trip through Papua. The spare layout reads as calm and graphic, and it works well on a quiet wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a date or a family name, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9 or order a matte print.
