Fell and ski jumps
Rukatunturi's slopes carry the ski area and the ski jumps used in World Cup events. They form the central shape of the map, standing out from the flatter surrounding land.

Rukatunturi Map Poster & Print
Rukatunturi is a fell in Kuusamo, in north-eastern Finland near the Russian border. On a map it rises above a landscape of lakes, forest and wetland. Ski runs cover its slopes, and the village of Ruka sits at its base, with hotels and cabins spreading into the woods. Water is never far away, and small lakes and ponds scatter the ground in every direction.
Ruka opens the Nordic skiing season every November with World Cup cross-country, ski jumping and Nordic combined events, and the ski jumps stand on the fell itself. Nearby is Oulanka National Park and the well-known Karhunkierros hiking trail, which make the area as popular in summer and autumn as it is in winter.
A Rukatunturi map poster shows the fell as the centre of a wide, watery land. The village and ski area are marked clearly, and the lakes and forest open out around them. It is a calm, spacious map with plenty of empty ground, and it suits people who value Finnish quiet, clear light and the change of seasons in the far north.

Lakes all around
Many small lakes and ponds scatter across the landscape around the fell. On paper they appear as a pattern of pale shapes that gives the map its northern character.
The village at Ruka
The resort village gathers at the foot of the fell, with hotels and cabins set among trees. It is the most detailed part of the map, and it surrounds the base of the slopes.

Pourquoi Rukatunturi
Une carte qui a du sens
Ruka appeals to people who love the Finnish north in any season, whether they come for early-season skiing or for autumn hikes near Oulanka. A poster of the fell and its lakes brings back the quiet and space of those trips.
Change the title and subtitle to mark a season or a trail, and keep the coordinates line. Blueprint and Classic black & white keep it crisp, while Paper, Sand and Noir give other moods. The HD files cost $9, or you can order a matte print.
