Lake Malawi shore
The long western shoreline of the lake runs along the east of the map, a clean edge between land and a very broad body of water.

Salima Map Poster & Print
Salima is the headquarters of Salima District in Malawi's Central Region, set on the lowland plain near the western shore of Lake Malawi. The town itself sits a little inland from the water, with roads leading down to the lakeshore beaches and to Senga Bay. From above, the settlement is modest and spread out, surrounded by farmland and villages.
A Salima map poster shows the town centre around its main roads, with residential areas fanning out on the flat ground. Toward the east the lake takes over the composition: a long, smooth shoreline and a wide expanse of open water that fills much of the frame and gives the map its calm, horizontal character.
Salima is a gateway from Lilongwe to the lake, and the nearby shore is popular for weekends away from the capital. The lake itself, one of the great lakes of the African Rift, is known for its hundreds of species of cichlid fish. On paper the town and the lake balance each other: a scatter of streets and a great sheet of water.

Road to the lake
Roads lead from the town down to the beaches and Senga Bay, the routes most visitors take between Lilongwe and the lakeshore.
Lakeshore plain
Flat land with farms and villages surrounds Salima, so the street pattern appears loose and open rather than tightly packed.

Pourquoi Salima
Une carte qui a du sens
Salima is remembered by people who grew up in the district, and by the many visitors who have spent time on the lake nearby. A map of the town and shoreline makes a simple, quiet picture of that part of Malawi.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a trip date or a short phrase, and pick one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
