La carte
Selm Map Poster & Print
Selm lies on the southern edge of the Münsterland in North Rhine-Westphalia, where the flat farmland of Westphalia meets the Lippe valley and the Ruhr begins. It isn't one dense core. On the map it reads as several settlements, Selm itself, Bork and Cappenberg, linked by roads across fields, hedgerows and woodland, each with its own small cluster of streets.
Cappenberg sits on a wooded rise and is home to Cappenberg Castle and its collegiate church, known for the Cappenberg Head, a medieval reliquary bust associated with Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Closer to Selm, the Ternscher See, a former gravel pit, has become a lake for bathing and walking. The former colliery settlement adds a more regular pattern of workers' housing.
That spread-out, patchwork structure gives the map an unusual rhythm, with no single centre and plenty of green between the built areas. The Selm map poster captures a kind of place many people in the region know well: close to the cities, but still framed by fields, woods and water.

Ternscher See
A former gravel pit turned lake, its sharp-edged, irregular outline stands out among the fields near the town.
Separate districts
Selm, Bork and Cappenberg appear as distinct clusters joined by country roads, giving the map several focal points instead of one.

Pourquoi Selm
Une carte qui a du sens
Selm makes a good choice for people who moved out to the Münsterland edge for space and green, or who grew up in one of its districts. The poster shows how the parts fit together, something that's hard to see from the ground.
Add a title, a subtitle such as your street or the year you moved in, and keep the coordinates. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a framed print.
