Ring of singels
The old centre is circled by canals that trace the line of its former defences, giving the poster a strong, closed outline at its heart.

Sneek Map Poster & Print
Sneek lies in the Frisian lake district in the north of the Netherlands, and water defines its shape. The old centre is enclosed by a nearly continuous ring of canals that follow the line of former fortifications, with narrower waterways and quays cutting through it. Newer districts spread out beyond the ring, and to the east the broad Sneekermeer opens up.
The town's best-known landmark is the Waterpoort, a brick water gate from the early seventeenth century that spans one of the canals and has become a symbol of Friesland. Every summer Sneek also hosts Sneekweek, one of the largest inland sailing events in Europe, when the lake fills with boats.
A Sneek map poster shows the historic centre as a compact island framed by water, with bridges stitching it to the rest of town. The surrounding polders and channels add long straight lines. The whole sheet balances the tight old streets against the wider, open Frisian landscape.

The Waterpoort
This early seventeenth-century water gate sits on the Geeuw at the edge of the old town and marks the point where boats once entered Sneek.
Sneekermeer
East of town the lake and its connecting waterways open out and turn part of the poster into broad, calm shapes of water.

Pourquoi Sneek
Une carte qui a du sens
Sneek is a place people return to, whether for Sneekweek, a summer on the water or family in Friesland. A map of its canal ring is instantly recognisable to anyone who has sailed through the Waterpoort or walked the quays.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a boat name or a regatta year, and keep or change the coordinates. Choose one of five styles, with Blueprint especially suited to a water town, and order a printed poster or download the $9 files.
