Wensu Map Poster & Print
Wensu is the seat of Wensu County in Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, on the northern edge of the Tarim Basin. The Tian Shan rises to the north, and meltwater streams coming down from the mountains feed the oasis around the town. From above, the settlement appears as a compact grid enclosed by a broad green belt of irrigated farmland.
The layout is typical of oasis towns in the region. Straight avenues form the centre, while tree-lined roads and irrigation canals reach outward, dividing the fields into long parcels. Beyond the cultivated area, the landscape turns abruptly into gravel plain and desert, so the map has a clear boundary between watered land and dry ground.
A Wensu map poster captures that sharp contrast in line work alone. The dense lattice of fields and channels around the town fills the frame with fine detail, while the emptier spaces at the edges convey the scale of the terrain around it. The city of Aksu lies a short distance to the south, linked by road across the plain.

Irrigation network
Canals and field boundaries spread out from the town across the oasis, dividing the farmland into long parcels and giving the poster a finely ruled texture.
Desert edge
Where irrigation ends, the pattern stops abruptly and open ground takes over. This draws a clear outer boundary around the green oasis.

Une carte qui a du sens
For those who come from Wensu or the Aksu region, the map is a reminder of a landscape defined by water and mountains. For others, it is a striking example of how an oasis shapes the land around it, clear even in pure black and white.
