La carte
Xiantao Map Poster & Print
Xiantao lies in central Hubei, on the flat, water-rich Jianghan Plain between the Yangtze and the Han rivers. The Han River runs along the northern side of the city, forming a broad, smooth curve on the map. Canals and smaller waterways branch across the plain, and the whole area is dotted with lakes and ponds.
The city centre has a compact street grid with wide main roads, and newer districts extend outward in larger, regular blocks. Around them, the landscape is divided into fields and fishponds, forming a finely detailed pattern of rectangles and irregular water bodies that are typical of this part of Hubei.
Xiantao is known in China as a hometown of gymnastics, having produced several Olympic champions, and it is also a major centre of the nonwoven fabric industry. A Xiantao map poster shows the city's setting on the plain: the curving Han River, the grid of the centre and the network of water surrounding it.
