Irrigation network
Canals and distributaries cross the plain in long, near-straight lines, splitting the countryside into a regular mosaic of fields around the town.

Dokri Map Poster & Print
Dokri lies in Larkana District in Sindh, on the flat alluvial plain west of the Indus. From above, the town is a compact cluster of lanes and low buildings. Canals, field boundaries and embankments form a fine geometric pattern around it, and in places the land is so flat that the irrigation channels are the strongest lines on the map.
The area is best known for being close to Mohenjo-daro, one of the largest cities of the Indus Valley Civilisation, whose excavated remains lie a short distance away. The same river that supported that Bronze Age city still waters the surrounding land. Rice and other crops grow in fields laid out along the channels.
A Dokri map poster is a study in how a river plain gets organised. It shows a small town at the center, roads running out towards larger neighbours, and a patchwork of fields and canals that marks land shaped by water over thousands of years.

Compact town core
The town itself is a tight knot of narrow lanes, with a few main roads leading out to the surrounding villages and the wider district.
Indus floodplain
To the east lies the broad floodplain of the Indus, where embankments and old channels trace the movements of one of the world's great rivers.
