Ḑamad is in the Jazan Region of south-western Saudi Arabia, on the flat Tihamah plain between the Red Sea and the mountains to the east. From above, the town is a spread of low blocks and straight roads on open ground. Cultivated plots and scattered settlements extend across the plain around it.
The town shares its name with Wadi Ḑamad, one of the seasonal watercourses that run down from the highlands toward the coast.
