Ţūkh is a town in Qalyubia governorate, north of Cairo in the southern part of the Nile Delta. The Damietta branch of the Nile runs close by. Around the town, the land is almost entirely cultivated and divided by irrigation canals and drains, so from above the ground looks finely ruled.
The town itself is dense. Its streets are narrow and irregular, and older lanes bend in every direction, while main roads run straight out toward neighbouring villages and the larger centres of the governorate. The edge between the tightly built town and the open fields is sharp, which makes the settlement read almost like an island on the map.
