La mappa
Canutama Map Poster & Print
Canutama lies on the Purus River in the south of Amazonas state, one of the long, winding tributaries that feed the Amazon. The town itself is small, a few parallel streets laid out along the bank, but the municipality around it is vast and almost entirely forest and water.
On a map the Purus dominates. It loops back on itself in tight meanders, leaving oxbow lakes and old channels scattered across the floodplain. River level changes dramatically through the year here, and life in the town follows that rhythm, with boats as the main link to the rest of the region.
A Canutama map poster is therefore more river than street. The compact grid sits on the bank like a small anchor, while the curving water lines and lakes fill the frame. It makes an unusually organic composition, closer to a drawing of a landscape than a city plan.

Oxbow lakes
Cut-off bends and floodplain lakes appear as crescent shapes scattered around the channel, a signature of Amazonian rivers.
Bankside grid
The town's few streets run in a short, orderly pattern along the riverbank, a small geometric counterpoint to the water.

Perché Canutama
Una mappa che ha un significato
Canutama is the kind of place most people know only from far away or from a long boat journey. A map on the wall keeps that river town close, whether it is home, family or a remembered trip.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, add a date, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The river lines work especially well in Blueprint and Sand.
