La mappa
Griffin Map Poster & Print
Griffin is the seat of Spalding County, south of Atlanta on the Georgia Piedmont. It was founded in 1840 by Lewis Lawrence Griffin, a railroad president, and the town was planned around the rail line that created it. That origin is still visible from above. A regular downtown grid lines up with the tracks, and broad lots and tree-lined residential streets spread out beyond it.
Beyond the historic core, the pattern changes. Suburban roads curve with the rolling land, highways run toward Atlanta and Macon, and woodland and farmland fill the gaps between neighbourhoods. A Griffin map poster captures the shift from the order of a nineteenth-century railroad town to the looser, more organic road network of the modern South.
Griffin is also the birthplace of John Henry Holliday, better known as Doc Holliday. He was born here in 1851, long before his fame in the American West. Textile mills were once central to the town's economy, and traces of those mill districts remain in the street pattern around the centre.

Residential avenues
Older neighbourhoods near the core have long, straight streets and large lots, which give the map an even, open texture.
Outward highways
Routes toward Atlanta and Macon lead away from town, cutting long lines through the surrounding woodland and suburbs that anchor wider frames.

Perché Griffin
Una mappa che ha un significato
Griffin has deep roots for many Georgia families, and its compact centre makes a satisfying map. It is clear enough to find a childhood street and balanced enough to hang as a design piece. It suits longtime residents and those who moved on to Atlanta alike.
