La mappa
Qincheng Map Poster & Print
Qincheng is the seat of Nanfeng County in Jiangxi province, and on the map it appears as a compact town following the curve of a river through a hilly valley. The older streets cluster close to the water, while newer, wider roads and larger blocks extend outward onto flatter ground. Bridges cross the river at intervals, stitching the town together.
Nanfeng is best known across China for its mandarin oranges, grown here for well over a thousand years and once sent as tribute to the imperial court. The surrounding hills are lined with citrus orchards, and the fruit remains central to the local economy and identity. The county is also associated with the Song dynasty scholar Zeng Gong, who was born here.
A Qincheng map poster captures the relationship between river, town and hill that defines the place. The water gives the composition a natural line to follow, and the fine grid of streets around it reads cleanly in black and white, with the valley slopes leaving calm open space at the edges of the frame.

Old centre by the water
The densest, most irregular streets sit close to the river, where the town first grew, and contrast with the straighter roads of later expansion.
Hills and orchards
Low hills surround the valley, and much of this higher ground is given over to the citrus orchards Nanfeng is famous for, leaving the edges of the map light and open.
