Temple Square origin
Every street is numbered from Temple Square, the point where the grid begins, which makes the centre of the poster the logical starting point for reading the whole city.

La mappa
Salt Lake City Map Poster & Print
Salt Lake City lies in a broad valley at the foot of the Wasatch Range, with the Great Salt Lake spreading out to the northwest. On a map it has one of the clearest grids in America: large square blocks and unusually wide streets laid out from a single point at Temple Square. Addresses work as coordinates counted from that centre, so a name like 400 South describes its own position.
Mormon pioneers founded the city in 1847, and its plan followed Brigham Young's instruction that streets be wide enough for a wagon team to turn around. The Utah State Capitol sits on a hill above downtown, and the city hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002. The Jordan River runs through the west side on its way north to the Great Salt Lake.
A Salt Lake City map poster is a study in scale and order. The blocks are so large that the grid looks almost like graph paper, and the mountains rising sharply to the east give it a firm frame. It suits a minimalist print well, because the plan itself was drawn with such precision from the very first days of the city.

Ten-acre blocks
Downtown blocks measure roughly ten acres each, with streets far wider than usual, creating a bold, open pattern that reads well at any poster size.
Wasatch foothills
To the east and north the grid ends at the foothills and canyons of the Wasatch Range, where streets begin to curve and climb with the rising land.

Perché Salt Lake City
Una mappa che ha un significato
Salt Lake City is hung by skiers, graduates of the University of Utah, families with pioneer roots and anyone who has driven its wide streets. The grid is so distinctive that locals can find their block without a single label.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with your address in grid form, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
