Sansheng is a town in Chongqing municipality in southwest China, in the hilly country north of the central city. The land here is broken into low ridges and valleys. On a map the town appears as a compact core of streets, with roads snaking outward along the contours toward villages and neighbouring towns.
Chongqing is known for its steep, layered landscape, and that character is clear even outside the main city. Roads rarely run straight for long, and settlements tend to follow valley floors or sit on flatter shelves of land.
