Canal network
Small canals and rivers cross the area in every direction, as they do across the delta plain. On the print they appear as fine lines running between blocks and along roads.

La mappa
Xingqiao Map Poster & Print
Xingqiao lies on the northern side of the Hangzhou metropolitan area, in the low, flat country of the Yangtze delta. As in much of this region, the land is threaded with canals, ponds and small rivers, and the map shows roads and waterways running side by side. The area has grown quickly as Hangzhou spread outward, and its street pattern shows that growth clearly.
New residential compounds and wide roads sit next to older village lanes and water channels, so the map combines two scales at once. There are large, regular blocks laid out in recent decades and the finer, irregular grain of the settlements that came before. Waterways cut through both and often form the boundary between one neighbourhood and the next.
A Xingqiao map poster captures this moment of change, with the orderly geometry of new development meeting the older logic of a water landscape. In black and white, the canals become fine dark lines through the fabric of streets. The pattern is typical of northern Zhejiang and easy to recognise for anyone who knows it.

New residential blocks
Large compounds laid out in recent years form regular rectangles bounded by wide roads, the clearest sign of Hangzhou's growth to the north.
Village fabric
Older lanes and houses survive in pockets between the new developments. Their irregular, closely spaced streets add a finer texture to the composition.

Perché Xingqiao
Una mappa che ha un significato
A Xingqiao map records a place that looks different every few years. For residents who moved into one of its new neighbourhoods, or families who knew it before the expansion, the poster fixes a particular moment in the area's growth.
Add a title, a subtitle such as your compound's name or the year you moved in, and a coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. For $9 you get six print sizes as PNG and PDF, or you can order a ready-made print.
