Grid of streets
The town centre follows a regular grid of broad streets and rectangular blocks, laid out as the mining town grew. It gives the map a clear order.

La mappa
Zverevo Map Poster & Print
Zverevo is a town in Rostov oblast in southern Russia, part of the eastern Donbas coal basin. It grew up around coal mining in the twentieth century, and the map still shows that origin. Residential districts are laid out on regular grids. Around the edges lie former mine sites, railway spurs and the conical spoil heaps typical of the region.
The streets are wide and straight, typical of planned Soviet industrial towns, with blocks of apartment buildings in the centre and lower houses on the outskirts. Small rivers and gullies cut through the surrounding steppe, and their winding lines contrast with the rigid street plan. Beyond the town, open farmland stretches in every direction.
A Zverevo map poster shows a working town in its simplest form: grids of streets, lines of railway and a landscape shaped by mining. The town is known mainly to those who live or grew up there. The map honours that familiarity by showing its structure plainly, without decoration.

Former mine sites
Former mine sites lie around the edges of town, often marked by spoil heaps and old rail spurs. They record the industry that created the settlement.
Steppe gullies
Small rivers and ravines wind through the surrounding steppe. They add soft, irregular lines that frame the straight grid of the town.
