Winnenden sits in the Rems-Murr district northeast of Stuttgart, where the Zipfelbach runs through a shallow valley between vineyard slopes and farmland. From above, the historic core is a tight knot of short, bending lanes, with the former castle of Winnental set a little apart from it.
