Wuying Map Poster & Print
Wuying lies in the eastern part of Gansu, where the Loess Plateau breaks into countless ridges and gullies. Towns in this landscape almost always follow valley floors, and from above the built-up area appears as a narrow band of streets along a river or road, pressed between hillsides that rise steeply on either side.
The surrounding terrain is the real subject of the map. Loess soils erode into branching ravines, and generations of farmers have cut the slopes into terraces, so contour-like field lines wrap around every hill. Even in a simple black-and-white rendering, the land looks carved and patiently worked rather than flat.
A Wuying map poster suits anyone with ties to this corner of Gansu, or anyone drawn to landscapes where geography dictates everything. The town itself is small and linear, and its shape makes sense only against the hills around it, so a wider framing usually works best on the final print.

Terraced hills
Farm terraces follow the contours of the surrounding loess slopes, producing dense, nested lines that look almost like a hand-drawn topographic study.
Branching gullies
Erosion has cut the plateau into a tree-like network of ravines, and the roads and villages nearby fit themselves into the gaps between them.
