Zhongba Map Poster & Print
Zhongba lies in the southeast of Gansu province in northwestern China, a hilly region between the loess country and the Qinling ranges. The town sits in a valley, and from above its streets are drawn out along the valley floor, following the water and the level ground between the slopes.
Around the built area the land is steep and folded, with fields often cut into terraces that trace the contours. Rendered in black and white, the narrow strip of streets becomes a clear, elongated shape framed by the irregular patterns of the hillsides.
A Zhongba map poster shows how closely settlement here follows the lie of the land. The main road runs through the valley, the houses gather along it, and the hills close in on either side.

Main valley road
A principal road follows the valley and carries most of the town's streets, forming the backbone of the print.
Terraced hills
Surrounding slopes are worked into fields along the contours, and these textures frame the town with irregular, flowing shapes.
