The map
Akaiwa Map Poster & Print
Akaiwa is a city in Okayama Prefecture, formed in 2005 by the merger of several towns northeast of Okayama city. Rather than a single dense centre, it is a group of settlements spread through valleys and low hills, and the map reflects that dispersed, rural character.
The Yoshii River runs through the area, and much of the flat land along it is given to rice paddies and orchards. Okayama is known across Japan for fruit such as white peaches and grapes. Roads and rail follow the valleys, while forested hills separate the settlements and leave broad unbuilt areas on the map.
An Akaiwa map poster captures the balance of river, fields and hills. The river gives the design its main curve, village streets form small clusters, and the hills leave generous blank space. It is a gentle, uncluttered image of Japanese countryside organised around water.

Scattered centres
Because Akaiwa grew from several merged towns, the map shows multiple small clusters of streets rather than a single downtown.
Wooded hills
Forested high ground between the valleys stays mostly unbuilt, leaving calm open areas that frame the river and village streets.

Why Akaiwa
A map that means something
This map suits people from Akaiwa or its merged towns, and anyone drawn to the quieter side of Japan. The river and scattered villages make a restful, balanced composition that doesn't need to be dense to be interesting.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the name of your former town or a special date, and keep the coordinates line. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
