The map
Allerton Map Poster & Print
Allerton is a suburb in south Liverpool, between Mossley Hill, Woolton and Garston. On the map it looks nothing like the dense terraces nearer the city centre. Streets curve, plots are larger, and green space takes up a big share of the ground, including parkland and a large cemetery.
The area's best-known address is 20 Forthlin Road, the council house where Paul McCartney grew up and where early Beatles songs were written. It is now looked after by the National Trust. Nearby Calderstones Park, with its old mansion and gardens, adds another large green area just beyond the residential streets.
An Allerton map poster shows the typical texture of a mid-century English suburb: crescents and closes, a main shopping road, and wide parks breaking up the housing. It is a gentle, open composition, well suited to a hallway or a study.

Allerton Road
