Iguaçu meanders
The Iguaçu river winds through the low ground nearby, its looping curves and oxbows giving the map a fluid line against the straighter roads.

The map
Araucária Map Poster & Print
Araucária lies on the Paraná plateau just southwest of Curitiba, part of the metropolitan area but with its own centre and its own shape. From above, a compact older core sits among newer neighbourhoods, while broad industrial zones and highway corridors spread across the surrounding land. The Iguaçu river winds along the edge of the municipality in loose meanders.
The town takes its name from the Paraná pine, Araucaria angustifolia, the tall, umbrella-shaped conifer that once dominated this plateau. Today Araucária is known above all for industry, including the Petrobras Presidente Getúlio Vargas refinery, one of the larger refineries in southern Brazil.
An Araucária map poster brings together three different textures: the small, fine-grained streets of the centre, the large rectangular footprints of industrial sites, and the meandering lines of rivers across open land. It is a working town's portrait, drawn without decoration.

Industrial districts
Large sites, including the refinery, appear as broad, simple shapes on the map, a strong contrast to the dense street pattern of the town centre.
Metropolitan corridors
Highways and main roads link the town to Curitiba, running in long lines across the plateau and tying Araucária into the wider metro.
