Bla is a town in the Ségou region of central Mali, on the wide, open savanna between the Niger and Bani river systems. Its importance comes mainly from its position. Bla sits at a road junction where routes toward Ségou, toward San and the north, and toward Koutiala and the south all meet.
On a map the town reads as a knot of streets tied around that junction. The main roads cross near the centre, and the residential quarters fan out in low, fairly regular blocks.
