The map
Circasia Map Poster & Print
Circasia lies in the department of Quindío, in the heart of Colombia's coffee-growing region, between the cities of Armenia and Pereira. Like many towns founded during Antioquian colonisation, it was laid out as a grid on a ridge. From above, its streets form a neat rectangle that narrows and bends where the ground drops away into steep, wooded ravines.
Circasia is known in Colombia as a free-thinking town, home to the Cementerio Libre, a cemetery founded in the 1930s as a place where anyone could be buried regardless of belief. The surrounding countryside is part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape recognised by UNESCO, with farms, winding roads and bamboo-lined streams spread across the hills.
A Circasia map poster captures the classic shape of a coffee-country town: an orderly grid on high ground, surrounded by ravines and farm roads that twist with every contour. In black and white, the contrast between the regular centre and the organic landscape around it is striking and clear.

Ravines and streams

Coffee farm roads
Country roads wind across the surrounding hills to farms and villages, adding looping lines typical of the Coffee Cultural Landscape.
