Planned avenues
Broad, straight avenues and ordered housing estates define the centre, a clear example of 1950s socialist urban design that looks precise in black and white.

The map
Dunaújváros Map Poster & Print
Dunaújváros was built from 1950 as Hungary's showcase socialist new town, first named Sztálinváros, beside a large steelworks on the Danube. It was laid out almost from scratch next to the older village of Dunapentele, and its plan still reads as a single idea: axial avenues, broad green strips and residential neighbourhoods arranged in rational sequence.
The town stands on a high loess bluff above the river, a steep edge that appears on the map as a sharp line between the street pattern and the water. The steelworks spreads to the south as a large industrial block, and the Pentele Bridge, opened in 2007, carries the M8 motorway across the Danube on a long arched span.
Long before the steel, the Romans kept a fort here called Intercisa on the Danube frontier. A Dunaújváros map poster suits people who grew up in the housing estates, worked at the mill or admire twentieth-century planning. The combination of rigid avenues, industrial geometry and the curving river gives it genuine graphic strength.

Danube bluff
The town sits on a steep loess bank above the river. On the map this edge draws a firm boundary between the built city and the broad Danube below.
Pentele Bridge
Opened in 2007, the arched motorway bridge crosses the Danube south of the centre, a strong single line across the water in the lower part of the frame.

Why Dunaújváros
A map that means something
Dunaújváros is one of the few Hungarian towns whose plan was drawn in one go, and that clarity makes it a natural poster. It speaks to former steelworkers and their children, to architecture enthusiasts, and to anyone who likes order set against a moving river.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, adding a date if you wish, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the planned-town character especially well. HD files cost $9; printed and framed posters are also available.
