Steelworks complex
The El Hadjar steel plant covers a vast area of sheds, yards and internal roads. It is the most striking geometric shape on the map and the reason the town is widely known.

The map
El Hadjar Map Poster & Print
El Hadjar lies a short distance south of Annaba in north-eastern Algeria, on the low, fertile plain of the Seybouse River. The town is known above all for its steelworks, the El Hadjar complex. It is one of the largest in Africa and has been a cornerstone of Algerian heavy industry since it was built in the years after independence. The complex covers a huge area and dominates the map.
Beside the plant, the town itself is fairly modest: apartment blocks and houses, a centre of shops and services, and roads to Annaba, the airport and the surrounding plain. Rail lines serve the industrial site. Beyond the built-up area, farmland spreads across the valley floor, and the Seybouse winds toward the Mediterranean.
One of the strongest shapes on an El Hadjar map poster is industrial. The long sheds, rail sidings and internal roads of the steelworks form a geometric block next to the looser texture of the town. For people who worked at the complex, or grew up beside it, that contrast is the essence of the place.

Seybouse plain
The river and its broad valley run past the town toward the sea at Annaba. They bring a winding line and open farmland into the composition.
Residential districts
Apartment blocks and houses cluster beside the industrial zone. Their tighter street pattern stands apart from the large-scale layout of the plant.

Why El Hadjar
A map that means something
Few towns are as closely tied to one workplace as El Hadjar, and many families across the region have a story connected to the steelworks. A map that shows the plant and the streets around it records working life as much as geography.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a name, years of service or a dedication, and edit the coordinates line. Noir and Blueprint suit the industrial lines, while Classic stays neutral. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
