Apple country
Orchards surround the town, and their long, even planting patterns give the land around the urban area a finely textured, striped look.

The map
Fraiburgo Map Poster & Print
Fraiburgo lies on the plateau of western Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, at an altitude where winters are cool enough for temperate fruit. The town is modest in size, with a centre of regular blocks that thins out along roads following the rolling terrain. Beyond them lies a landscape of farms and forest remnants.
Fraiburgo is widely known as a pioneer of apple growing in Brazil and calls itself the land of the apple. Commercial orchards were established here from the 1960s with help from European growers. The name refers to the Frey family, among the town's founders. On an aerial view, the orchards show as finely lined fields around the urban area.
A Fraiburgo map poster brings together a small grid of streets and the agricultural land that surrounds it. The contrast is part of what makes the print work. It is a natural choice for people from the region or anyone with a connection to Brazil's southern highlands, where the town's layout was set by farming as much as by planning.
