Elster bends
The White Elster curves through the town, and much of the historic centre lies beside its bends. The river is the map's dominant flowing line.

The map
Greiz Map Poster & Print
Greiz, in eastern Thuringia, lies in a narrow stretch of the White Elster valley. The river winds through the middle of town, and the streets follow it on both sides before climbing the slopes. Above the centre, the Upper Castle stands on a rocky hill, while the Lower Castle sits near the river. From above, the town is long and curving, shaped by the valley rather than by a plan.
For centuries Greiz was a seat of the Princes of Reuss, which explains its castles and the Greiz Park, a large English-style landscape park laid out along the river. The park contains the Summer Palace, which houses a collection of prints and satirical art. The town is sometimes called the Pearl of the Vogtland.
A Greiz map poster brings out that setting: the curving river, streets pressed onto the valley floor, winding roads on the slopes and the broad, open shape of the park with its paths and lake. It is an elegant, uncluttered map with plenty of breathing room.

Castle hill
The Upper Castle sits on a steep outcrop above the centre. On the map, roads loop around the hill and leave its crown largely open, so it is easy to spot.
Greiz Park
The landscape park covers a large stretch of the valley floor. Its winding paths and lake form soft shapes that contrast with the town's streets.
