The map
Lahr Map Poster & Print
Lahr sits in Baden-Württemberg on the western edge of the Black Forest, where the valley of the Schutter opens onto the broad Upper Rhine plain. On the map the old town gathers along the river, with streets climbing into the forested hills on one side and spreading across flatter farmland on the other.
For several decades after the Second World War, Lahr was home to a large Canadian Forces base, and the long airfield runway to the west of town is still one of the map's most striking lines. The town is also known for its autumn chrysanthemum festival, which fills the old centre with flowers.
A Lahr map poster brings these contrasts together. The dense old town, the winding valley road, the hillside streets and the straight airfield sit together in one frame, between the rising forest and the level plain. It makes a well-balanced composition with clear, readable shapes.

Former airfield
West of town, a long runway remains from the decades when Lahr hosted a Canadian Forces base, a distinctive straight line on the flat plain.
Forest hillsides
To the east, streets climb into the wooded slopes of the Black Forest, giving the map a looser, contour-driven texture at its edge.

Why Lahr
